Verify your lease notice period (typically 60 before lease expiration)
Confirm forwarding address requirement
Ensure utilities will stay on through final inspection
Verify rent is current to avoid deposit delays
Cleaning & Preparation
General
Remove all personal items and trash (place curbside if pickup is next day)
Wipe all surfaces: windows, sills, shelves, baseboards
Kitchen
Clean oven, stovetop, and hood
Clean refrigerator inside and out
Clean cabinets, sink, and disposal
Bathrooms
Scrub showers/tubs and grout
Clean toilets, sinks, and mirrors
Floors & Carpet
Sweep, mop, and vacuum all floors
Professionally clean carpet if required by lease
Systems & Maintenance
Replace any burned-out bulbs
Test smoke and CO detectors; replace batteries if needed
Patch small nail holes only if you can match paint (otherwise leave as-is)
Yard & Exterior (if applicable)
Remove all debris from yard
Keys & Access
If lock can be set from inside: Leave keys and remotes on kitchen counter and lock door on exit.
If lock cannot be set from inside: Leave unit unlocked with keys on counter, we will rekey after inspection.
Return all mailbox, amenity, and gate keys
Move-Out Day Final Steps
All cleaning is complete per checklist
Refrigerator is empty and wiped down
All trash has been removed
Kitchen counters are clear and clean
Thermostat set to 68°F heat / 75°F cool
All keys and remotes placed on kitchen counter
